In the past, anyone who took a class B car driver's license had to pay attention to the vehicle with which they completed the practical test. During a test in a car with automatic transmission, the code number 78 was entered on the driver's license. However, only cars with automatic transmissions may be driven with it. With the B197, driver's license training on vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions can be combined without restricting the driver's license.
With which vehicle is the test taken?
The ability to drive manual transmissions must be proven in a test drive lasting at least 15 minutes with the driving instructor; a separate test on a manual transmission is not necessary. The actual driving test can then be completed with an automatic transmission.
